I guess it's all relative. I can't comprehend spending $30k on a car, but some people spend $60k on one.

Having said that, I doubt I'd have one now if my mum hadn't bought it. Because I'm too much of a tight arse

That's one of the things I do like about the tmx

- not standing at the stove
- making things without preservatives etc

My main interest is the preservative free bread etc. With Gs ASD I have been trying to eliminate what I can, but bread is one thing I still buy. No pint me making it unil I get a new oven though.

I probably don't eat half of those things posted. I wouldn't mind beign able to make the kids custards and fresh pasta etc.

Can the cheaper model do that?

If I got one, I'd feel obliged to use it a lot and I hate cooking. I want things to get me OUT of the kitchen not in it LOL :)

You can't brown meat in it or cook crispy bacon. Everything is kinda soggy IYKWIM.

Would I would like is a new set of fry pans and baking dishes that are safe without bl00dy non-stick surfaces that always peel off. I may use my tax refund to get new pans I think.

Thermomix? Who has one or wants one?

Noodles, I got a set of s/s saucepans from Tupperware and am in love. They have a removable handle so stack inside each other. And they can go in the dishwasher!

I guess a big thing for me is I love cooking. I love having pots and pans on the go. I do have a kitchen aid and a blender and I find they suit me best.

If you don't mind me askin Shell, how much were the Tupperware saucepans? I like the idea of stackable ones, as my kitchen is tiny (even once we redo I, it wont be any bigger) How sturdy are the handles when you put them back in?

I want a kitchen aid, but was holding out until I learnt more about the thermomix.

Um, around $300? I bought so much stuff (it was when we got B's diagnosis so I needed new containers too). They take up no space at all. They are amazing.

I bought a kitchen aid at the same time (my two divorce presents). I love my kitchen aid. I rarely bake using the tmx. I find the quality of the baked product crap compared to ring prepared by hand or by my kitchen aid.

Geolay - that's just things my bestie and I cook just to test out. Some I eat and enjoy, others I don't. I have really struggled to like my tmx so my cooking is a lot of experimenting with my bestie. It's our "date night"

A cheaper version can do a lot of what the tmx does. It's obviously not as high quality and doesn't have reverse features, some don't have inbuilt scales etc but had I not bought a tmx I would have bought a cheaper similar contraption.

Indie does amazing with her Bellini!

And to clarify thermomix and kitchen aid aren't even in the same ball park. It would be like comparing a toaster and jug in my opinion.

Tmx is great for processing, chopping, cooking in my house.
Kitchen aid is my best friend for baking, mixing, kneading. I only bake with it but I know shell does much more and there are heaps of attachments.

Thanks heaps Shell and peta. Good to have some food for thought!

I want the ice/teal colour kitchen aid..

Im not an adventurous cook, and my lack of patience since having kids has even ruined my cooking ability

But I deserve something in the kitchen, considering I do all the cooking (DHs cooking is organising take away  )

ETA thanks peta, see I haven't even researched it enough to know the difference  Maybe a kitchen aid is what im after then.

I am with peta, I would not even consider going without a mixer - which I use for all my baking. My mixer actually just died and I am going to save and get myself a planetary mixer of some sort (Kitchenaid is one of them, but there are other ones out there. I am weighing up my options vs cost, features, multi-use with attachments etc)

I equate the Thermomix to a food processor that can process/chop food, as well as mill and cook (which most other food processors cannot do). I love that it can mill (but cannot justify the cost eventhough I would love to mill my own sugar replacements like rapadura and palm sugar).

A mixer and a food processor are mutually exclusive in my eyes for the type of cooking/baking I do.

I love my kitchen aid!

I so wanted a pistachio cOloured one but my partner loathed that colour  I ended up getting a rare dark silver to match my tmx.

Morning sickness kicked in hardcore after I bought mine and I haven't used it as much as I should. I plan to change that when bub arrives and I'm back in a routine.
