New slow cooker meal idea

Wed Apr 16, 2014 3:26 pm

I'm trialling making up a whole bunch of slow cooker meals to freeze up and then just chuck in the slow cooker before work. My work days are crazy in the evenings so hoping this works well. I made 4 meals in double quantity, so enough for 8 meals. Took about 2 hours to assemble. Will see how it goes!

Will be interesting to see how it works, I hope its a success for you... so over cooking meals here

I like cooking, but every night is such a drag. I am really trying to keep our meals fresh and healthy, but after work is a nightmare. Having chicken marsala tomorrow night, will update on how I find it!

Sounds like a great idea Megs. Is that meat & sauce you're freezing?

First meal= failure  It called for 2 cups of marsala and it tasted like rocket fuel! Hope the rest are better!

It was to freeze the meat and veges and you add the liquid in as you cook. Mostly it's stock or water to add.

 Hope the next round is more successful. Good idea, keen to see how it works out. We also have frantic post-work dinners but I think our mornings are worse, so I'm not sure whether this would work for me! Considering giving it a try though.

Second meal- borderline pass. It cooked for 9 hours, which was just a bit too much for it I think. The smoke alarm was going off when my husband got home, and the top was a bit burnt! Might have to rig up some kind of timer as I've still got 6 meals to go!

Third time lucky! Cooked the third man in my new multi cooker which has a delay start timer and keep warm function- was yummy. Nice to come home to cooked dinner on a crazy work night.
