To say something like that either means she unaware of the difficulties your kids have had sleeping, or she honestly believes you're not doing something which you should be in order to get them off to sleep. i'm sure she doesn't think you're completely incompetant.

Plus, she'll find out soon enough how wrong she is.

All you can do is shake your head and laugh at people like this. They'll soon find out that babies aren't little dolls who just do what you want.
If you are a bad mum because your children weren't great sleepers then I am too. My 4 year old still wakes most nights, so I must be an terrible mum!

Omg yes! I have some people in mind who were totally delusional. Now their son isn't sleeping great during the day I have a quiet little giggle to myself. :haha:

People who are expecting their first or have a very young newborn are shockers for "parenting advice" because they still know nothing yet expect they have a clue.

Honestly, I think every parent-to-be (first-timer) is delusional! I know I was. I wasn't a complete twit about it like the people you're describing, but I laugh now at how clueless we were and how much we thought we knew.

The best part is that the laughs keep coming. I thought because I eventually knew what I was doing with a little baby, that automatically meant I'd have a clue how to deal with that same child when he became toddler. Well, we're entering the toddler phase now and I am once again realising I have no idea.

I was deluded in thinking that number 2 would be easy because 'I was an old hand'. OMG newborn and toddler is mission impossible some days!

What were you thinking?

I was pretty clueless, but not enough to comment on other peoples parenting while i was still childless! They'll learn....and come running to you for advice. Then you can have a chuckle to yourself
